Car dealer-turned-developer Hartwell has secured planning for a \u00a3100m regeneration of the former Phoenix ironworks in Digbeth.<\/p>\n

The Phoenix Yard scheme will turn a 2.8-acre brownfield plot off Coventry Street and Digbeth High Street into 260,000 sq ft of media, education and commercial space, with 240 new homes stacked above and around the new blocks.<\/p>\n

Designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the plans nod to the area\u2019s industrial heritage while backing Digbeth\u2019s emergence as Birmingham\u2019s creative engine room.<\/p>\n

The site sits among a cluster of major schemes including the BBC\u2019s Typhoo Wharf HQ and the \u00a31.9bn Smithfield Market masterplan.<\/p>\n

Around 200 construction jobs are expected during the build, with more than 500 full-time roles once the neighbourhood is up and running.<\/p>\n

Group property manager Joanne Churchill said: \u201cOur vision for Phoenix Yard is to create a dynamic mixed-use neighbourhood at the heart of Digbeth.\u201d<\/p>\n
