His injuries were life-changing and have required multiple surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>An HSE investigation found that the incident happened following a departure from the prepared switching programme. This meant work was allowed to be carried out on one of the two electrical cabinets while the other remained live, allowing part of the electrical system to be energised during the maintenance work.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"474739\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbrilliantideasltd.co.uk%2Falimats%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/6507-BI---Alimats-MPU---Constuction-Enquirer_01_s2.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The investigation found that had the initial switching programme prepared by Natural Power Services Limited been correctly followed, the incident would not have occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The company did not have a suitable system or process in place to check or review switching programmes to ensure that the procedures were correctly observed at all times, or to approve any changes to the initial switching programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Natural Power Services Limited pleaded guilty to safety breaches and was fined \u00a380,000 at Inverness Sheriff Court last week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"92582\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F3KAlSlI%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynch MPU Ad.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking after the hearing, an HSE spokesperson said: \u201cThis was a wholly avoidable incident caused by the failure of the company to implement a safe system of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company should have ensured there was a suitably rigorous process for checking and reviewing the work.
