{"id":9456,"date":"2025-12-03T20:51:37","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T20:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=9456"},"modified":"2025-12-03T20:51:37","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T20:51:37","slug":"monster-tbm-hunt-starts-for-lower-thames-crossing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/monster-tbm-hunt-starts-for-lower-thames-crossing\/","title":{"rendered":"Monster TBM hunt starts for Lower Thames Crossing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bouygues Murphy JV has entered talks to buy a monster TBM to drive one of the widest tunnels in the world for the Lower Thames Crossing.<\/p>\n<p>The JV will use just one machine to drive both 16.4m wide north and southbound tunnels, keeping costs down while not impacting the total programme schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Tunnelling machine procurement gets underway as it emerged the mega project cost is heading towards \u00a311bn, up from the \u00a39bn cited earlier this year.
